Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade - Downtown San Diego
January 13, 2007

In honor of martin Luther King Day, San Diego offers a day of culturally rich, family-friendly activities, including a special parade and festival with entertainment, art and food. The organizers encourages participants to wear clothes that reflect their own cultural backgrounds. Festivities begins at 10 am with the parade starting at the East Gate of Petco park.

Vision of Earth Through the Lens of the Masters - San Diego Natural History Museum
through January 28, 2007

The exhibition display realistic, abstract and impressionist photography inspired by nature. Many nationally recognized photographers are featured, alongside with sculptures and glass. All of the artwork is for sale, with profits benefiting the Museum.

Once Removed — The Aja Project - San Diego Natural History Museum
January 13, 2007, 7.30pm—9.30pm

Check out this collaborative, multimedia Dance production by Local Refugees and City heights Youth. According to San Diego Art and Sol, "the performance is a synthesis that rose out of the intersecting lives of youth from many different backgrounds such as Cambodia, Vietnam, Somalia, and Kenya who now live in San Diego." Chance Encounters: the L.A. Project
An original book chronicling a 6 years project:photographer Douglas McCulloh wandered across Los Angeles County, taking spontanous photographs. he divided the county in quadrants and every day he randomly chose a section of the grid, and spent a full day in the defined area, talking to passerby and immortalizing them. Each image is accompanied by a short description as well as the geographical coordinates.
